EMC2104 Fan Controller
The Microchip EMC2104 is a SMBus compliant Dual Fan Controller IC that integrates Temperature Monitoring and Fan Speed Control into one device. Being a dual device the EMC2104 can control two fans based on the inputs from one internal and up to four external temperature channels.
The EMC2104 controls fan speed via PWM. This PWM driver can be controlled via an RPM based FAN Speed Algorithm as part of an integrated Fan Control Look-Up Table. This table can be user customised to prescribe the desired fan speeds based on the temperature channel inputs.
Also included is a Hardware Programmable Thermal Shutdown that provides protection that cannot be corrupted by erroneous software adjustments.
