RS PRO Cat6 FTP Cable
Category 6 or Cat6 for short is the 6th generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling that is widely used in both business and home networks. It is commonly known as network, LAN or Ethernet cable. It consists of 4 twisted pairs of sheathed copper wire cable, able to support a high data transfer.
Cat 6 cables are backwards compatible with Cat5/ Cat5e and Cat3. Either end usually has an 8 position connector RJ45 jack, which is used to connect the two devices together with the Cat6 cable. It can be identified as Cat 6 cable by the labelling on the outer sheath.
Bandwidth is the rate of data transfer, the carrying of information from one place to another, the higher the bandwidth, the faster the data can be pushed across a network. The bandwidth of Cat6 cable is 250 MHz, significantly faster than that of Cat5e.
This RS PRO Cat 6 cable is Low Smoke Zero Halogen, commonly termed as LSZH or LSOH cables are used where smoke emission and toxic fumes could cause harm to human health, as well as to essential equipment in the event of a fire. LSZH cables have an outer sheath material which produce lower levels of smoke and toxic fumes, and no acid gases. These are particularly beneficial to personnel exiting safely during a fire, as well as increasing the safety of the firefighting operation.
They are foil twisted pairs (FTP), networking cables, which mean the copper wires are twisted together and covered with a foil shield which helps to reduce crosstalk, as well as any electromagnetic interference.
Standards
IEC61156-6, TIA 568-C-2, EN50288, ISO/IEC 11801:2011, IEC60332-1, IEC61034, IEC60754
