RS PRO Proximity Reed Switch

Introducing the proximity switch/sensor designed to detect and respond to the presence of a magnetic field. The inductive proximity sensor is usually mounted on to the cylinder and detects the piston position. The information about the cylinders' position is being used to signal electrical circuits as required. The switch is supplied with a 2,5m long flying leads and is impregnated with epoxy resin to give protection in accordance with IP67. It also guarantees an excellent impact resistance and a wide operating temperature range from -20°C up to 85°C.

Metal Reeds contained in a glass tube are mutually influenced when within a magnetic field, thus changing the circuit. The switch is operating in N/O (normally open) contact function and features a LED indicator. When connected to several switches with indicators at low voltage the use of suitable circuit (D2) is recommended, which overcomes problems caused by the voltage drop across the LEDs. The switch can be used with AC or DC circuits and have mechanical and electrical life of the order of 10⁷ operations.
