A vacuum pump is very efficient for fast and reliable pick and place, and allows you to pick some objects that a gripper can't pick. For example, it can take out the cover of a flat box,, pick and place large objects with a flat surface.
The pump developed by Niryo has the same efficiency as any other vacuum pump, yet it is more silent. Indeed, the pump has been conceived around a syringe actuated by a servomotor.
Niryo One is a 6-axis open source collaborative robot manufactured in France. Affordable and easy to use, it has been designed for higher education, vocational training and R&D laboratories. This robotic arm is based on ROS, Arduino and Raspberry Pi, and allows programming with Blockly (similar to Scratch) , Python, C++, Matlab, Modbus TCP/IP, TCP ASCII Server.
